Homer Alaska Bear Viewing
Welcome to Homer, the gateway to the best bear viewing in all of Alaska. Homer Alaska bear viewing is fabulous! This is due in part to its proximity to Katmai National Park & Preserve and Lake Clark National Park & Preserve. Katmai National Park & Preserve is well known for the brown bears. The salmon at Brooks Falls draw the bears. Viewing platforms next to the falls offer you a close-up of the fascinating scene. Lake Clark National Park & Preserve is located on the western shores of the Cook Inlet. This oceanfront setting is a terrific bear habitat. Bears dig for clams on the beach and fish for salmon in the creeks which provides optimal bear viewing all summer long. Tall grasses and the backdrop of the Neacola Mountains make for excellent wildlife photography.
Local operators are trained and knowledgeable and will take you on the trip of a lifetime to experience bears in their natural habitat. But seeing bears is just half the fun! The other half is how you get there – by wheeled plane, float plane, helicopter or boat. Whatever travel mode you choose, you’ll see amazing sights along the way.
