A variety of fish live in our waters, but Homer is best known as the “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World”. Visitors and seasoned anglers alike, return year after year for the thrill of catching Homer Halibut.  Salmon, rockfish, and lingcod fishing also are popular. The fishing lagoon on the Spit is stocked with silver and king salmon – so you can cast right from the Spit! Don’t worry about getting your fish home, either. Several providers are happy to prepare your seafood to be packed or shipped home.  Whether ocean fishing or river fishing, anglers can expect a fun and challenging Homer Alaska fishing trip. Even non-anglers can enjoy the fishing scene by heading over to the fish docks at the far end of Homer Harbor. There, commercial fishing boats are unloaded by huge cranes to ready the fish for both local and far-flung markets.
